Richard Butler of Kilcash : ウィキペディア英語版 | Richard Butler of Kilcash Richard Butler of Kilcash (1615 – 1701) was the second son of Thomas Butler, Viscount Thurles and the grandson of Walter Butler of Kilcash who inherited the earldom of Ormond from his uncle. While his father resided at Thurles Castle, Thurles, County Tipperary, Richard occupied the family estate of Kilcash Castle, at the foot of Slievenamon in County Tipperary. His brother James would later be created as Duke of Ormonde. Like his father, he was a prominent Catholic. ==Career== He had a confirmation (by virtue of the commission of grace) 24 June 1639, of the lands of Kilcash, Garryricken, and many others in the counties of Tipperary and Kilkenny; with a limitation thereof to his heirs male; remainder to the respective heirs male of Walter Earl of Ormond. In 1641 he sided with the Irish Confederates and was made Governor of County Waterford. In January he was commissioned to take the city of Waterford but they were prevented by the mayor and council. He reduced Cappoquin and other places.
